On May 28 my first baby turned 5 and graduated from pre-K. It's amazing to me that she is so big and so old! Darby is just a precious girl, inside and out. Darby loves to read and sing. She's still just so very imaginative. And she loves animals like crazy. The result is that she spends a majority of her time pretending to be some sort of animal or another. Her current favorites are wolves and dragons. The other day after I told her that we were having orange danish for breakfast she said, "Well, I am going to pretend it is dead animals because I am a wolf and they eat dead animals." She has a very detailed imagination. =) Darby loves her little brother, Sutton, to bits and pieces. She really does play so well with him... most of the time. They laugh at each other all day long and it just makes my heart happy. Darby is a big rule-follower and a tad bit bossy so she and Sutton do have their arguments. (Sutton is proving to enjoy breaking rules a lot more than following them.) Darby has a generous heart and is very good at sharing. She's becoming more and more independent and while that makes me very proud it also makes me miss my little baby. =)
Darby in her new graduation dress and "Birthday Girl" tiara that Kyle's mom gave her. When I asked her if she wanted to take off the tiara for graduation she said, "Then how will people know it is my birthday?"

A whole row of family there to cheer Darby on.

Opening a few birthday presents after graduation and ice cream.
On May 30 we had a birthday party for Darby. My cousin Meredith, who lives down the street from us, graciously offered to let us use her backyard, which is much bigger than our own. We had a pink bouncy castle and cake and ice cream and lots of friends and family. It was hot but so much fun and Darby loved every minute of it.

The cake. This was my first attempt at writing in icing and, while not beautiful, not too bad either, if I say so myself. Darby requested a Tinkerbell AND Cinderella cake that was chocolate with pink and blue icing. So here it is!

It was a great day. Love you sweet Darby Gail!
For Memorial Day weekend Kyle and I were able to go to Washington, DC with Scott and Meredith. I will do a post about that when I get Meredith's pictures. It was a great time!
Until next time!

Aaaawwwwwww! It's crazy how fast the past 5 years have gone by, isn't it? I can't believe both of our daughters will be in Kindergarten in just a few months. Sigh! Looks like she had a great birthday and I thought the cake looked great! :)

she is just beautiful! i know she and scarlett would have so much fun together...scarlett has been a cat all day today. :)
happy birthday sweet darby!!!
I can't believe she's five! Almost big enough for a roller racer...
Darby is so cute, Marta. And that picture of her on the stage...I think it looks just like you. What a sweet girl.
Happy Birthday Beautiful Darby! I can't believe she will be going to Kindergarten.
I love the pics and can NOT believe that Darbs is already 5! I think you can tell how Darby is going to look as an adult in those last two photos. She is just beautiful inside and out! :)
I wish I could have been in the aisle cheering her on at graduation! She is so adorable and I do just love all that hair. ;) I love you, sweet girl!
Okay, I can't help but remember this, and I hope you're not offended, but I remember when you would post pics of her when she was little and you mentioned her having no hair and wondering when it would grow. Look at it now!!! It's so long and beautiful! Time just flies, I can't believe we both have children that old! And that I also have a 2nd grader, yikes!
